UNITED STATES NAVY
1. Description: Ribbon: The ribbon has a center stripe of ultramarine blue, flanked on either side by a wide stripe of white, with a stripe of ultramarine blue at the center, and a narrow stripe of blue at the edge.
2. Criteria: Awarded to any member of the US Armed Forces who is distinguished by Meritorious Achievement or Service while Assigned to a Joint Activity. The degree of merit need not be unique but must be distinctive. Bronze V device worn to denote Valor/Heroism in Combat.
3. Background: Designed by the Institute of Heraldry, US Air Force. The Joint Service Commendation Medal was established by order of the Secretary of Defense on 17 MAY 67.
